Dear GM & Nova Enthusiast,
We finally got a chance to take our 1965 SS Convertible to a show south of here! The weather was beautiful and the top was down!
Before we took it out we were able to work on the 700R4 converter - allowing it to engage in 4th gear gave us another 3-400 RPM drop taking us to the 2000 RPM range at 70 MPH. This definitely helped on the fuel mileage!
Also, we added dual electric fans along with our V8 aluminum radiator to help out with cooling during parades. When we took it south to the show, it was about 70 or so degrees outside and the fans were not running at all which offered up more fuel savings. The 283 seemed to love the open road with its new-found lower RPMs.
Project 7245 is back on the ground for now and the axle seal leak has been stopped! Unfortunately, the clutch did not repair itself while it sat waiting for axle repairs. It seems like this will be our Fall (hopefully not Winter!) project. We plan on pulling the trans to do an inspection, buying parts, and you know the drill... It's no different than what you experience doing maintenance, repairs and improvements on your GM Classics.
Fall Carlisle is just around the corner (October 2-4). Be sure to get your orders in ASAP! All prepaid orders include free delivery to the show.
Let us know if you need any parts for your GM Classics this fall!
